Can Employees Use an Internal AI Assistant From Their Phones?

by | Aug 3, 2026 | AI Knowledge Hub

Yes. Employees can use a Microsoft Copilot Studio–based internal AI assistant from a phone, particularly when the assistant is deployed through Microsoft Teams. However, mobile access must be deliberately configured, tested and secured. Publishing an agent does not automatically guarantee that every employee can find, install or use it correctly on a mobile device.

Why Mobile Access Matters

Field technicians, construction supervisors, warehouse workers, nonprofit program staff and employees traveling between locations often need operational guidance away from a desk.

Teams Is Usually the Simplest Interface

Microsoft allows Copilot Studio agents to be connected to Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot. The Teams publishing guidance explains deployment and discovery requirements.

Mobile Availability Requires Proper Deployment

The implementation team must publish the agent, connect the channel, share it with the correct users, confirm that Power Platform apps are allowed and test access with normal employee accounts.

Permissions Still Apply

Using a phone should not change what an employee is allowed to see. Microsoft’s Copilot Studio authentication guidance explains the identity model.

Mobile Answers Should Be Designed Differently

Critical actions, warnings, escalation contacts and links should appear first. Long explanations may be unsuitable in the field.

The Practical Answer

A successful mobile deployment requires availability, authentication, readable answers, working links and offline alternatives for critical procedures.
